Do You Need To Do Cardio For Fat Loss?

Today's big question:

Is cardio absolutely necessary to effectively lose fat?
Cardio referring to many different activities: treadmill, elliptical, rowing, jogging, Zumba, step class...etc.)
Technically no
...but also yes.⁣

I say no because you can absolutely lose weight without performing any cardio, which is especially the case if you have a large amount of weight to lose⁣.
I also say yes because once you achieve a lower body fat percentage or you start to get leaner, it becomes increasingly more difficult to lose body fat.⁣

Your daily calorie intake can only go so low before you become lethargic & hungry all day. You will lack the essential nutrients your body NEEDS from food & you will be left feeling miserable. This is why extreme diets never work in the long term.
Here is my suggestion:

If you have a lot of body fat to lose, then just start out very simply without cardio.
Just get your body moving! Whether that is going on short walks or performing dynamic movement routines on a daily basis. Just find something you enjoy doing and stick with it!
Just going from doing nothing to doing something will have a HUGE impact!
On the other side of the spectrum, let's say you don’t have much body fat to lose and you just want to trim down a bit more and get leaner. Provided you’re already doing some weight training & in a calorie deficit, then cardio could be the catalyst you need for extra fat loss (which can be very hard to achieve otherwise).
Many people like to say that they have 'stubborn' body fat.
The harsh truth is, your body fat isn’t stubborn...You are likely just not doing enough exercise consistently or you are eating too much. Sometimes we need to hear this tough reality!
[Disclaimer: I do perform cardio for the general fitness benefits, heart health improvements, and progressing my overall performance - but not to lose fat specifically. This is what I would recommend that most people should do...do cardio for the love of the activity you are taking part in and don't worry about the rest!]
